JOSH GIRVEN SANDWICHED – Even at 6’3″ Junior Bulldog Josh Girven found Marksmen of equal height all over him under the basket.

In their season opener last Tuesday night, Sherwood beat the young El Dorado Springs Bulldog varsity boys 65-23.

New head coach Ryan Waters said, “Sherwood won 20 games last year and only graduated on starter. They were experienced, big, fast, and strong. They played a 3-2 zone most of the night and pushed the ball well in transition.”

He said his young team struggled to score from the outside going 0/10 behind the 3 pt. line.

“We had 21 turnovers resulting in 28 given points. We are a young team and are working on taking care of the ball and having five guys work as one on the floor.”

He said his young team is running a new system this year, and are working hard every day. “Some of the little things are just going to take some time for our young team to adjust to the varsity level speed.”
