Lady Bulldogs win three in two nights

KINLI SIMMONS SHOOTS – Freshman Kinli Simmons (5’7″) scored four points during the varsity Lady Bulldog win Tuesday night over Sherwood. She scored nine points Monday night as the JV Lady Bulldogs beat Buffalo 49-36.

TAYLOR WITT SCORES – Sophomore Taylor Witt (5’6″) lead the JV Bulldogs with 14 points in their win Monday night against the Buffalo Lady Bisons. Here she scores in the varsity Lady Bulldog win Tuesday night against the Sherwood Lady Marksmen 66-41.

On Monday, Nov. 19, the JV and Varsity Lady Bulldogs played host the Lady Bisons of Buffalo.

In the JV contest the Lady Bulldogs came out quick with good pressure defense forcing several key turnovers that led to easy baskets taking an 18-7 lead into the second quarter. From there on out, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Bison played very close with the Lady Bulldogs being able to hold on to their lead and finish with the victory 49-36.

Scoring for the JV lady Bulldogs were Taylor Witt – 14 pts., Kameron Schaaf – 10 pts., Kinli Simmons – 9 pts., Cameron McPeak – 7pts., Makayla Herbst – 5 pts. and Becky Jennings with 4 pts.

The second game featured the Varsity Lady Bulldogs and the Varsity Lady Bisons.

This game started as a mirror image of the first with the Lady Bulldogs jumping out to a quick lead with their pressure defense and their quick scoring. The Lady Bulldogs were able hit on five of their first 6 three point attempts and finished the half with a score of 43-21. In the second half the Bulldogs’ offense sputtered as they took too many quick shots and were unable to finish. The Lady Bisons took advantage of that by making many of their own shots and closed the gap to nine pts., but that would be as close as they would get. The Lady Bulldogs settled down and ran the clock finishing with their first win of the season 64-55.

Leading the Lady Bulldogs in scoring on the night were Alexa Schaaf – 28 pts., Kaili Simmons – 12 pts., and Rachel Bush 11 pts. The leading rebounders for the Lady Bulldogs were Kaili Simmons – 7, Alexa Schaaf – 5, Kate Sibley and Kameron Schaaf each with 4. Madison Mays led the Lady Bulldogs in steals with 5 on the night.

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, the Varsity Lady Bulldogs were once again in action, this time hosting the Lady Marksmen of Sherwood.

The Lady Bulldogs started out the game running past the Marksmen for a lot of transition lay ups but struggled to finish early. Defensively the Lady Bulldogs were playing well, but weren’t able to capitalize on the offensive end.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs were able to gain some confidence by going to the free throw line and hitting on 11 out of 12 to take a lead of 31-19 into halftime. In the third quarter the Lady Bulldogs were finally able to hit their stride scoring in transition and continuing to push their lead out to as much as 26. In the fourth quarter the Lady Bulldogs were able to finish the Lady Marksmen off with a final of 66-41.
