The chief of the El Dorado Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Owen Elliott, confirmed reports that his department responded Saturday night to a mutual aid request from the Osceola Fire Department.

Chief Elliott said that he and five firemen took a pumper and a tanker to Osceola. The fire destroyed three buildings but the massive effort by many fire departments from this area saved the rest of the block.

Elliott said it was 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the last ElDo firefighter got back.

Sunday morning, just after midnight, El Dorado Springs firemen were called to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover at the intersection of Hwys. 32 and CC south of Filley. The report by Trooper Quinton Bland said that the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer driven westbound by Darcy L. Bond, 16, Nevada, failed to negotiate the 90 ̊ corner, ran off the road, struck a ditch and overturned at 11:55 p.m. Saturday.

Ms. Bond and her passenger, Hanna S. Quitno, 14, Nevada, were not wearing seatbelts and were taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center with injuries reported as moderate.

Sunday afternoon, the Caplinger Volunteer Fire Department and the El Dorado Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to a blaze at the Gary and Barbara Messick residence southeast of Cedar Springs.
