Raymond Charles Watts, 70, Peculiar, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon Thursday, Dec. 20, in the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. -12 noon Thursday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Elks Lodge in Harrisonville.
Raymond was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Cedar County the son of Jess and Bernice (Fondes) Watts. He grew up in El Dorado Springs and was a 1960 graduate of El Dorado Springs High School. Raymond married Delores J. Kellhofer on March 15, 1963, in Wentworth. He lived in Independence for 13 years before moving to Peculiar in 1979.
Raymond worked for Yellow Freight for 25 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #41 in Kansas City and was a member the Cass County Elks Lodge.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Gene Kellhofer; two half brothers, John Watts and Eldie Richardson; and two sisters-in-law, Jan Watts and Lou Kellhofer. He is survived by his wife, Delores, of the home; three sons – Raymond Watts and wife, Dana – Atchison, KS, Steven Watts and wife, Carol – Belton and Russell Watts and wife, Victoria – Kansas, OK; one daughter, Debra Dias, and husband, Roger – Madison, NJ; two brothers, Jesse Watts and wife, Joyce – El Dorado Springs and Tommy Watts – Kansas City; mother-in-law, Wilma Kellhofer – Pierce City; three sisters-in-law – Doris Johnson and husband, Clifford – Raymore, Hazel Lauderdale and husband, James – Sparta and Lynn Kellhofer – Monnett; two brothers-in-law, Don Kellhofer – Pierce City and Dale Kellhofer and wife, Katie – Wentworth; eight grandchildren; 16 nieces and nephews.
