TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway Thursday morning, July 12, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann Walker called the meeting to order. Kay led us in singing “Onward TOPS & KOPS.”

Sheryl Ann led us in roll call and walking report.  Twenty-two weighed-in today and we had a 21.2 lb. net loss.

Linda W. was the weeks best loser with a loss of 5.2 lbs.  C.

Marble game: LoEtta won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

Contest report: Warren said the TOPS are tied between LoEtta and Sheryl. The KOPS contest is over with Marilyn and Juanita tied for first place.

Sheryl reminded us keep your summer contest updated.

If you have not signed up for the St Jude’s Run for a Reason you need to do so ASAP. If you are not able to do the walk please come and cheer on the ones who will be walking. It will be a good time to bring your “Burnie” and get a photo of a historical place in El Dorado. The Picnic is a historical event in its self so a photo any place would be good.

Sheryl read a letter from Claudia.  She will be attend IRD in July. Mentioned in her letter was new members for our chapter, Mary L. and Traci B.

Sheryl reported we received a check for $90 from the Best Choice Labels.

The floor was then turned over to Carol who had the program today.  Her program titled “Enjoy the Ride” was taken from the TOPS hand book “Real Life Real People.”

The road to weight loss and a healthier lifestyle is a long one journey. You need to “chart your course” make a plan. Joining a weight loss support group is a good start on your plan. Start a journal, record what you eat.

Set small goals, reward yourself with a nonfood item when you reach each goal.

People in your life may set up roadblocks. Learn how to explain your new life style using the “I” message.  Such as “I do not want to eat that right now” or “yes, the cake you made looks delicious, but I am full right now.

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones and say them to yourself often.

Carol then did a program a former member Jan B had from TOPS: some members were given a slip of paper to read an encouraging statement.

Thank you, Carol, for your great program.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”.
