TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Aug. 9, for their weekly weigh in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay led us in singing “Take Me Out.” We said our pledges.

Marilyn led us in a series of exercises.

Sheryl said 26 members weighed in today and we had a net loss of 2.6 lbs.  Judy K. was the weeks best loser with a loss of 5.0 lbs.

Marilyn caught up on some awards for those not at the meeting last week.

Melissa received a back in black with perfect attendance., Susan also received a back in black with perfect attendance and LoEtta received a charm and certificate for having a loss while on vacation.

Melanie is celebrating her 4-year accumulative KOPS anniversary.

Sheryl gave an arrangement of flowers from Debbie Kay’s to each member of the executive committee as a thank you for their help.

Sheryl also brought door prizes for chapter members. Winners of the door prizes were:

Watermelon, Melissa, Margie, Judy K and Susan. Winner of the flower arrangement was Mary.

Jean won the right to draw for the marble but did not get the winning one.

Sheryl read a letter from Claudia.  This is the last month for the summer contest. She has just returned from IRD and had a wonderful time. 2019 IRD will be in Oregon.

Fall Rally will be Oct. 13. There will be an officer’s workshop at Fall Rally. Registration must be sent in right after first meeting in September.

They are asking for the chapters to bring fundraising baskets. Sheryl suggested a wine theme basket. Tabled for a later date.

OLD BUSINESS:

Garage sale fundraiser: Juda checked on the Wosoba property west of town. We would be able to use outside under the canopy but not in the building. We can store items in the building at night. The cost would be $50 for the week end.

Robbie made motion we rent the Wosoba location for the garage sale, Judy K 2nd and vote taken and passed.

Each person bringing items should price and mark their items prior to bringing them. Each person is responsible for their items should they not sell. We will need to coordinate who is bringing trailers, tables and so on. Will need a cashier and sacker. This will be on Friday, Aug. 31, and Saturday, Sept. 1. Start getting items you want to donate together as we do not have much time.

Floor was turned over to Jean. She spoke about the KOPS Society meeting in Springfield last Saturday. The Missouri State King spoke on how he lost 255 lbs. He did it by determining the number of calories his body needed by using the BMI index.  He then used a high protein diet and counted his calories. He also recommended the use of 5 spices and they are: Cyanine Pepper, Cilantro, Cinnamon, Black Pepper and Garlic.

He said drinking water is important as it flushes out the toxins and helps lose weight.

Always check with your Doctor to help determine the proper calorie intake for your body. Each person is different and calorie requirements will differ.

Jean then read from the TOPS Real Life, Real People Guide on how to determine your BMI.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”.
