El Dorado Springs Christmas Baskets a success

The El Dorado Springs Christmas Basket committee sincerely appreciates all of the volunteers, businesses, churches, groups and individuals who gave so generously of their time and talents as well as money to make the basket program a success. Due to the wonderful support of the community, we were able to provide food baskets for 252 families and gifts for 238 children with an additional 95 children “adopted” by organizations or individuals.

The committee would like to thank everyone who made a donation or volunteered time to make the event possible. Each gift was important and each gift was appreciated. In addition to the many churches that made donations of food and money, we would like to thank the First Baptist Church for the use of their facility for the collection and distribution of donations.

El Dorado Springs DECA adopted children along with the Lions club, CenturyLink, Physicians Medical, Eagles, CCMH, American Iron Car Club, Union Hall Baptist Church, Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and others. Students from the El Dorado Springs Christian School and from the Northeast Vernon County School volunteered their time to help with the project. Thank you to the FFA students who helped carry the baskets and gifts out to the cars. Thank you to DairiConcepts, Fugate Motor Company, Woods Grocery, Summer Fresh Grocery, Ehlers Variety, Foundation 81, Pogo’s Pizza, the local Cedar County Library, Material Matters and all the other businesses who donated supplies or worked to collect food and gifts. Thank you to those who delivered boxes to shut-ins on Saturday morning. There are countless hours donated by countless volunteers to make this program possible.

Again, thank you to each and every one who helped make this a special holiday in our community. We wish you all the best of the New Year.
