The Walker Rural Fire Department will hold their annual chili and soup supper Jan. 12, at the Walker Rural Fire Bar. Serving begins at 5 p.m. There will be chili, soups, desserts, ice tea, coffee and lemonade. A donation box will be available. Please help support the Walker Rural Fire Department.
Walker Senior Citizens will not meet in January or February, but reconvene in March on the second Tuesday with Leon Gier cooking fish for the main course.
Spending Christmas Eve with Tracy and James Washburn, Corbin and Declan and baby Jaycee for her first Christmas were Bob and Laura Clinton, Julie and Kent Gardner, Jodee and Jeff Fanning and Bob Lee and Lavina Clinton.
Glen and Alberta Hays went to Hollister Saturday and Pat Willis, Nancy Jeffries and Paula Gray all rode down with them to an OES reception for Linda Jenkins, Associate Grand Conductress.
Kelsey Willson spent the Christmas holidays with her grandparents, Gilbert and Eleanor Willson. They spent a few days in Branson and went to the Dixie Stampede and went on the Showboat Branson Belle. On Dec. 29, Gilbert, Eleanor and Kelsey attended Gilbert’s sister, Janet Nichol’s, 60th birthday party at the home of Amberly and Mike Phelps in Rich Hill. Brianne and Clare Willson spent a couple of days with Gilbert and Eleanor this week.
Bob Hutchison and Charles and I attended the 54 Cruisers meeting at Pogo's Pizza in El Dorado Springs Friday evening.
James and Tracy Washburn, Declan, Corbin and Jaycee went to Gardner, KS, to spend Christmas with his parents, Dan and Peggy Washburn.
Charles and I had lunch in Rich Hill Sunday. We were joined by Christine and Corey Graham, Chet and Marla Foreman, Regan Kannady, Wendy and Brandon Conley and Garrett, Coltin Wilson and Katie and Brice Budd.
On the Sunday before Christmas, Bob and Laura Clinton and Bob Lee and Lavina Clinton attended the Bright Family Christmas celebration held at Liberal.
Brooklyn and Carter Foreman spent Friday with Charles and me. Charles and I visited Fred Haynes Sunday afternoon.
Valerie Hardy, Jayna and Paxton visited Bob and Jane Hutchison Wednesday afternoon.
Alexia and Maleia Majors spent Saturday night with their grandparents, Bob and Linda Majors, and attended church with Linda in Schell City Sunday morning. Brad and LouAnn Majors, Madyson and Mason visited Bob and Linda Sunday evening.
A birthday party was held for Rozella Gammon at noon on Saturday at the home of Bob and Jane Hutchison. Others attending were Jim and Jeanne Ogle, Lois and Jim Herbst and Bill and Sally Hawkins.
Elnora Wallace and Jack and Sharon Wallace made a trip to Fort Scott Tuesday. Alisa Hardy and Leslie Wallace visited Elnora this week.
There will be a chili and soup supper with desserts and auction at the Schell City Community Center Jan. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. to raise money for the mission trips of Clayton and Shannon Gray this summer. Clayton will be going to Greece and Shannon to Amsterdam.
The NEVC boys and girls varsity teams will play in the Appleton City Basketball Tournament. January 7 – 12.
Girls play Rich Hill Monday, Jan. 7 @ 6 p.m.; Boys play Sheldon Monday, Jan. 7 @7:30; Tuesday, Jan. 8th, Girls play Appleton City @ 7:30; Boys play Appleton City @ 9.
Next game night will be Friday, Jan. 11, but time will be decided on the win or lose record.
