A bad pass caused a two-vehicle mishap at Cedar Springs on Hwy. 54 shortly after noon on Thursday, Jan. 3. According to Trooper Adam Rice, who had only transferred to Cedar and St. Clair Counties from up by the Iowa line two days earlier, Caleb Alexander and his passenger, Juda Fugate, both from El Dorado Springs, were eastbound on Hwy. 54 in a passenger car and slowed to make a left turn onto Hwy. DD. The tractor-trailer rig behind them slowed to permit the turn. That’s when a Mr. Sexton from West Plains, pulling a 40 ft. camper behind his one ton dually attempted to pass the semi striking the Alexander car in the left front side. The camper went into the ditch and eventually pulled the dually in with it. No one was injured although some may have gone to the hospital to be checked out. The El Dorado Springs Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene as a precaution.
