In spite of snow, sleet and ice, the Walker Rural Fire Department held their soup and chili supper. A fair-sized crowd attended. Thanks for your support.

Sympathy goes to the family of Helen Kennedy whose funeral is this week. Helen lived all her life in the Walker area and was a veritable walking local history book. Helen’s grandfather, Sanford J. Preston, was editor of the Walker Herald for almost 50 years. Helen had some of the old Herald newspapers and graciously shared them with me when I was compiling the Walker School and the Walker Community History books. She was always interested in helping her community and gave generously to aid the fire department, school or whatever the need. She will certainly be missed.

Mike and Kathy Newman, Ernest Nikodim, Susan, Phil and Chase Thompson and Debbie and Russ Jensen went to Kayla and Cody’s on Christmas for brunch. Kathy went to Amarillo on the 27th and stayed with Brad, Sarah, Lydia and Chloe Newman until Monday. Brad and Lydia came home with Kathy on the 31st. They had family at Mike and Kathy’s for New Year’s Day that included everyone that was at Kayla’s on Christmas day with the addition of Brad and Lydia. Mike took Brad and Lydia to Shamrock, TX, on Thursday to meet Sarah and Chloe at her parents, Mike and Carla Martin, and spent the night with them. He came home Friday.
