Cedar County 4-H Council meets

The Cedar County 4-H Council met on Jan. 21 at the Land O Lakes Fairgrounds.

The meeting was called to order by Wyatt Graves and pledged were led by Buffalo Chargers and New Kids on the Block. Roll call was called by Wyatt.

Old Business was that the committee chairs need to select a chairperson for Share the Fun and Achievement Day.

New Business included Volunteer Orientation needs to be completed either online or at Bright and Bold in Neosho on Jan. 26.

Discussion of the new region means that we are no longer in the Southwest Region but we have been moved to the West Central Region. The new regional office was moved to Clinton instead of Blue Springs. We can still participate in all the Southwest Regional activities.

Dates were discussed for Share the Fun and Achievement Day but nothing was voted on or finalized.

Steer weigh-in and State Fair Nose prints will be on President’s Day, Feb. 18. If you do not weigh your steer in, you need to email 5 pictures to Jerry Breckenridge by 4 p.m. that day. Ask for a confirmation.

Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Good Samaritans Boys Ranch or you can do it online. Please RSVP to the Extension office if you plan to attend.

We discussed that the dues for 4-H may go up next year to $25.

A livestock training clinic will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Vernon County Fairgrounds.

The council voted on Equine Trip to pay half of their cost.

There was discussion that there will be several changes in the fair book.

Next meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 18 in the Stockton Courthouse.
