On the Birthday and Community Calendar for 1955 which was published by the W. S. C. S. group of Walker, I asked if anyone knew what the letters stood for and had three people called and told me they stood for Women’s Society for Christian Service and is now United Methodist Women. Thanks to all for sharing.

Sympathy goes to Doris Thomas on the death of her sister, Ruth Carlson St. John. Ruth grew up in the Walker area and married Frank St. John of Sheldon. He died in 2008. They have lived in the Denver area for the past 40 years. Ruth was 91-years-old, and a member of the Walker graduating class of 1939.

Sympathy also goes to the family of Loretta Vandenburg Price. She married Newton Price and raised her family in the Schell City area. She was a member of the Walker graduating class of 1951.

The Walker Fire Department has openings for two board members and they must be paid members to run. Contact Alberta Hays at 465-2260 to have names listed on the ballot by Feb. 25.
