Local grandson has lead in Springfield production

Captain Sibley, grandson of Peggy and Orville Sibley of El Dorado Springs and son of Nick and Tina Sibley of Springfield, has the lead roll in Oliver, the musical production of the same name.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan 31, Feb. 1 – 2 and 7 – 9 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 2-3 and 9-10 at the Lander Theatre, 311 Walnut Street.

Oliver, the musical adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, is the account of an orphaned boy in 19th century London who is raised in a workhouse under very harsh and cruel conditions. After audaciously asking for an extra portion of gruel, Oliver is expelled and sold to an undertaker from whom he escapes. Finding himself on the streets, he falls in with a group of petty thieves whose leader teaches Oliver how to pick pockets.

Captain is nine years old and has performed for several years at the El Dorado Springs Picnic. Captain has also performed with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
