There are film festivals at Cannes and Sundance, but you can attend one in Nevada on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when Lunafest brings its series of short films by women to Cottey College. The screenings will begin at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall.
Established in 2000 by Luna, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, Lunafest connects women, their stories and their causes through film. This traveling film festival spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes.
Lunafest will feature nine short films by, for and about women. These films are filled with stories of reflection, hope and humor. More information about the film festival and a trailer can be found online at www.lunafest.org.
Cottey is the only Missouri location in which Lunafest is appearing.
A $3 admission fee will be charged for Lunafest with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Fund and to Nevada’s Moss House.
The Recital Hall is located inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada.
