SECURITY BLANKETS FOR SHRINER’S KIDS – Last fall Kensey Esry Paxson and her daughter, Kylee, became Ambassadors for Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis. Kensey had done a fundraiser and gave them $568. Shriner’s gives every child that leaves the hospital a soft, cuddly, fleece blanket. The idea came to Kensey’s grandmother, Thelma, and mother, Kelly Forest, to make maybe a dozen blankets to take when Kylee went for her next appointment in February.
When word got out, others in the community wanted to help, as they always do for a good cause. Those who donated money and fleece were: Alpha Delta Kappa, Ehler’s Variety, Sac Osage Retired Teachers, Nellie Nicholas, Evan’s Drug, Jennie Barritt, Chip Jennings and Kenley Widener.
Members of Sac Osage Retired Teachers and Alpha Delta Kappa spent hours helping to make blankets. As a result, Kensey and Kylee will take over 75 blankets of various sizes to be given to Shriner’s kids.
We want to thank all who helped to make this project such a success. Kensey, Kylee, Kelly and Thelma. Pictured are (from left) Kensey Esry, Luella Phipps, Thelma Forest, Pauline Hlavacek, Jennie Barritt, Kenley Widener and Carolyn Steward.
