TOPS Chapter #9319 El Dorado Springs met at the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Jan. 10, 2019 for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay and Carol lead us in singing this morning’s TOPS song. We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges

Sheryl led us in roll call, and our walking report. Twenty-five members weighed in today, and the Chapter had a small gain this week, but the members together had walked 331 miles this week. There were two best losers this week, Terriesha and Chris had both lost 2.2 lbs, but Chris could not stay for the meeting, so Terriesha was awarded the best loser award. Congratulations Terriesha. Marilyn presented Margie with an award for her 15 lbs. loss. Way to go Margie. Marilyn then lead us in a short exercise program. Thank you, Marilyn.

Mary wasn’t at the meeting this morning, so we didn’t have a contest report. We will have a new contest starting Jan. 24, and it will run until April 4th (10 weeks). This contest will consist of teams of four, one KOPS and three TOPS. The KOPS are to help and encourage the TOPS. The KOPS are the members who have reached their goal weight and the TOPS are members who are still trying to lose weight to get to their goal weight.

Sheryl brought up the discussion of renewing our Chamber membership. The cost is $100 per year. After discussing this, Juanita made a motion that we renew our membership and L.J. seconded it. We took a vote and the members voted to renew our membership.

Susan S. had our program today. She gave us information on how some people get depressed after the Christmas Holidays. It is noted that depression can lead to fear. Often when trying to lose weight, people can get depressed if they don’t seem to lose weight like they think they should. That often leads to the fear of failure and you begin to judge yourself which can lead to headaches and other maladies. You judge yourself on your failures. You may not go after an important goal because you feel like a failure. You can often conquer that fear by facing it.

With no other business, meeting was adjourned with our motto: “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”
