EL DORADO SPRINGS POLICE REPORT

In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Feb. 11 – Arrest: David R. Chism Sr., 57, El Dorado Springs, on an active Vernon County warrant charging him with a Class B felony driving while intoxicated, chronic offender with a cash only bond of $25,000 with bond conditions he not operate any motor vehicle or consume any alcohol. He was extradited to the Vernon County Sheriff’s office pending bond and court appearance.

Officers responded to a reported ex-parte violation at 400 South Ohio. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Ronald G. Miller Jr., El Dorado Springs, charging him with violation of an order of ex-parte with a cash or surety bond of $500. He was released on bond pending court appearance.

Officers responded to a reported larceny at 108 North High. Investigation revealed the theft of a pair of black Wahl hair clippers with the case and attachments. Investigation continuing.

Feb. 12 – Officers responded to a reported larceny at 1013 South Park. Investigation revealed the theft of personal checks that had been used to purchase unknown items from various locations. Feb. 13 – Officers responded to a reported larceny at 1008 South Jackson. Investigation revealed the theft of a brown Bryant external air conditioning unit. Investigation continuing. Feb. 14 – Officers responded to a reported larceny at 507 South Ohio. Investigation revealed the theft of a yellow Honda motor scooter. Investigation continuing. Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to call the El Dorado Springs Police Department at 417-876-TIPS.

Officers responded to a reported larceny at 100 East US 54 Hwy., Casey’s General Store. The investigation revealed that a blue Chevrolet truck with Nebraska plates had left without paying for $91 in gasoline. Investigation continuing. Officers responded to a reported assault at 901 South Grand, El Dorado Springs R-2 School. Juvenile suspect has been identified and referred to the Juvenile Office.

Officers assisted the Cedar County Sheriff’s office with a larceny investigation. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Robert J. Halcon, 17, El Dorado Springs, charging him with Possession of Under 35 Grams of Marijuana. He was released on summons pending court appearance. Three juvenile suspects were also identified and referred to the juvenile office for violations of minor in possession, possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest: Jeanne M. Strickland, 53, El Dorado Springs, on an active municipal court warrant charging her with failure to appear,per court order with a cash or surety bond of $602.50. She was transferred to the Vernon County Sheriff’s office pending bond and a court appearance.

Officers received information concerning reported drug activity at 105 South Grand. Officer applied for and obtained a search warrant. Officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted deputies of the Cedar County Sheriff’s office served the search warrant. Search of the residence revealed approximately 150 grams of marijuana. Investigation resulted in the following arrests: Zackary D. Hawkins, 21, El Dorado Springs, charging him a Class B felony of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to Distribute, a Class C felony of distribution of a controlled Substance, a Class C felony distribution of not more that 5 grams of marijuana, a Class C felony keeping and maintaining a public nuisance and a Class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia with a cash or surety bond of $25,000, Samantha J. Colbert, 20, El Dorado Springs, charging her with a Class B felony of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, a Class C felony keeping and maintaining a public nuisance and a Class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia with a cash or surety bond of $25,000 and David E. Fowler, 20, El Dorado Springs, charging him with carrying a concealed weapon. Hawkins and Colbert were released on bond pending court appearance and Fowler was released on summons pending court appearance.

Feb. 15 – Officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at 210 East US 54 Hwy. Suspect has been identified and the investigation continuing.

Feb. 17 – Arrest: John J. Cox, 31, El Dorado Springs, on an active Cedar County warrant charging him with failure to appear on the original charge of possession of up to 35 grams of a synthetic cannabinoid with a cash only bond of $250. He was released on bond pending court appearance.
