The El Dorado Springs High School Choir will depart from the high school on Thursday afternoon, March 7, headed to Washington, D.C., to perform at the Lincoln Memorial. From there they will head to New York City. While in New York, the choir will sing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. The choir was selected to sing the National Anthem after submitting a video on YouTube. The game will be on Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN. Tune in to see if our kids are featured in the crowd spans. The game is St. Johns vs. Marquette. The choir will also perform on the flight deck of The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. The group will also visit the set of Good Morning America on Tuesday, March 12. Some of the other points of interest they will see include Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, New York Stock Exchange, 911 Memorial at Ground Zero, the Natural History Museum and meals at the Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood and the world famous Juniors Restaurant, whose cheesecake has been voted the best in the United States. What trip to New York would be complete without taking in a Broadway musical? The Lion King was chosen to be viewed by the students. After seeing the sights in New York the choir will stop in Hoboken, N. J. at Carlo’s Bakery, home of “Cake Boss” on The Food Network. Gettysburg and Hershey, PA, are the next stops on the way back to Missouri. This trip comes at the heels of a very successful competition season where the show choir “Sound Collage” earned a I rating at NEO in Miami, OK, a 3rd place in Class 3 at the Nevada Choir Competition and 2nd in the Carthage competition. “Sweet Harmonies,” the Girls’ Glee group, earned a I- at NEO. And the Union Choir received a I rating at NEO as well.
