Lloyd Lyle Messick, 64, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Lloyd was born in El Dorado Springs, on Feb. 21, 1949. He attended El Dorado Springs High School and graduated in 1967.
He went on to attend University of Missouri – Columbia for his undergraduate work and University of Missouri – Kansas City for his law degree.
He was known for his amazing story telling and speaking and his ability to always find the best in people. He was a generous and giving man who never met a stranger. He practiced law in Missouri for the last 37 years and loved helping people. Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who loved working his farm, hunting, fishing and trapping with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie and Joy Messick, El Dorado Springs.
Left behind to mourn his loss, yet celebrate his life, are his wife, Nancy Houser Messick, who was his wife of 41 years and his college sweetheart; his loving son, Ryan David Messick, who was his best friend; his daughter-in-law, Kathryn Hodge Messick; and his loyal and faithful dog, Abby.
A graveside service will take place in the coming weeks in El Dorado Springs and a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at The Cove, 4105 NW Lake Drive, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064. Please bring your favorite story or memory about Lloyd to help celebrate his life with us.
