Fishing is all right but the weather is not being very nice to me. The fishing is good if you get out there and do it. They are catching a lot of spoonbill today considering all three people who are fishing.

Three guys just came in this afternoon (Tuesday) with a 70, a 68 and another nice one.

The biggest one so far was an 89 pounder opening day. We’ve seen several 80s.

There’s been a lot of them caught.

There are a lot of people like me that don’t think the weather is very nice. Opening day was so nice I thought about getting out there.

They are finding a few red mushrooms, but not very big. Some guys say they will grow, but I don’t know if that is right. My father-in-law tried that but I don’t remember what happened. I’d like to find where some guys mark them. I’d put a big one in there then I’d watch where they mark others. I’d go pick ‘em while they waited for them to grow.

I was always afraid a deer or turtle would come along and eat them. That thing better not be a half inch tall because I’m taking everything. They grow when I put grease and flour on them.

They are catching walleye in Stockton Lake. A guy said he has been catching his limit every day on live fishing worms. Another guy is using an orange Long John – some type of swimming grub. I can’t find them.

They are catching the walleye on the Stockton dam.

I heard spoonbilling is pretty good.

Just a few crappie have been biting, not a whole lot.

They have been catching some walleye out there. My nephew went out there last Wednesday or Thursday and limited out in an hour and a half. The smallest went 2 1⁄2 lbs., two went 3 lbs. and the biggest was 4 lbs. He was by the bridge throwing up against the dam and down stream. He started about 5 p.m. and was done by 6:30.

We walked them over to the side and he went down below and netted them.

They are going to shut the Stockton Dam down right now to remove the old turbine. The new one is not supposed to be here until August. They are supposed to have it up and running by March of next year.

Until then, we may have fish up here if it rains and gets the river up, but they won’t run a drop all summer.

The dam is barely intact. Nobody has done anything on it. Something needs to be done.
