State and federal agents are assisting Nevada firemen and police officers investigate an early-morning blaze that gutted the Missouri Probation and Parole office Wednesday, March 20. The office serves Bates, St. Clair, Cedar and Barton Counties.
Nevada Fire Chief Bill Thornton said firemen found heavy fire and smoke when they answered the alarm between 4 and 4:30 a.m. at 330 S. Prewitt Street.
Damage was confined to the probation and parole office. A nearby Veterans Administration clinic was not damaged. There were no injuries.
A representative of the Missouri Fire Marshal’s office and federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents visited the crime scene Wednesday.
