Floyd Smith passed away Monday, March 25, at Barone Care Center at Nevada. He lived in Harwood before going to Barone. Floyd and his wife, Hilda, who passed away in July moved to Harwood from Ohio in the 70’s. Funeral services were held for him at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home Friday morning, March 29, with burial at the Green Mound Cemetery at Harwood.
Connie Locke visited her parents, Ben and Gloria Locke, at Nevada Tuesday, March 26.
Frances Sanderson, Pat Prough and Dorothy Vantellman visited Frances Lewis one day last week.
Those having dinner at the Chinese Chef at Nevada after church Sunday, March 31 were Pastor Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Frances Lewis, Gary Joe Dunn and Gayle Grinder.
Jeanie O’Brien attended her granddaughter, Charli Huckaby’s, first birthday party at the home of her parents, Brandon and Erin Huckaby, at Butler Saturday, March 30. Her birthday was April 1.
Peggy O’Brien of Grandview spent Easter with her mother, Ruth Ijams, and sister, Jeanie O’Brien.
Church service was held at the Schell City United Methodist Church Sunday, March 31. Pastor Connie Locke’s sermon started with the call to worship “Blessed is the One,” and then she had the Introduction and the Creation and read Genesis 1:1-2:4a, the Covenant Between God and The Earth and read Genesis 7:1-5, 11-18, 8:6-18, 9:8-13 then Abraham’s Trust In God Genesis 22:1-18, Israel’s Deliverance at the Red Sea Exodus 14:10-31. Salvation offered freely to all Isaiah 55:1-11. A new heart and a new spirit Ezekiel 36:24-28, New life for God’s people Ezekiel 27:1-14, Buried and Raised with Christ In Baptism Romans 6:3-11. She had Prayer and a song after each reading. The gospel lesson Luke 24:1-12 and ended her sermon, “Why Look for the Living among the Dead.” Communion was then held. They dismissed with blessing and then sang “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” Sunday School was held before church. Jeanie O’Brien led the lesson “The Lord Has Risen Indeed” taken from Luke 24:13-21, 28-35.
