James (Jim) Henry Vittetoe

James Henry Vittetoe, 80, Bolivar, passed away at his residence early Sunday morning March 24, 2013, with his family at his side. He was born March 8, 1933, in Collins, one of five children to Charles Virgil and Amy Vittetoe.

Jim married Wilma Vickers on July 13, 1957, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage.

Jim and Wilma moved to Wichita to work and raise their family. They also lived for many years in the El Dorado Springs area.

He was a “jack of all trades” and was talented as a mechanic and carpenter. He and Wilma owned their own delivery business in Wichita. He worked for Boeing in Wichita. He retired from Sac-Osage Electric Company in El Dorado Springs after 16 years of service.

He enjoyed auto restoration and completely restored several automobiles. He was an avid reader of his Bible and was quite knowledgeable about the Scriptures.

His favorite hobby was playing music and he played with quite a few musicians in the Collins and El Dorado Springs areas. He built a music room in his home where he could record himself playing the guitar, banjo, fiddle and bass on separate tracks then mix them together on a recording where he was playing all four instruments.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Edward Vittetoe; granddaughter, Rachel Keith Norman; brother, Donald Vittetoe; and sisters – Viola Maslen, Ruth DeVenny and Dorothy Eaves.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home; daughters, Kathy West, and her husband, Mike, and Karen Pettibone, and her husband, – Jerry all of Bolivar; grandson, Ryan Keith; granddaughter, Sara Sullivan, and her husband, Jason; granddaughter, Katie West; grandson, Seth West; granddaughter, Leah West; grandson, Duane West, and his wife, Stacey; granddaughter, Elizabeth McClelland; granddaughter, Jennifer Grove, and her husband, Aharon; granddaughter, Emily Steele, and her husband, Rod; granddaughter, Carrie Schenk, and her husband, Paul; grandson, Michael Vittetoe; grandson, Shane Pettibone, and his wife, Kimmie; grandson, Randy Pettibone, and his wife, Shannon; grandson, Weldon Pettibone; grandson, Bobby Pettibone; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews including Alvin Davis and Maryann Macomber.

Gravesite services were held Wednesday, March 27, in the Dunnegan Cemetery officiated by Rev. Terry Faulkner under the care and direction of Murray Funeral Home of Bolivar.
