Students of the El Dorado Springs Chapter of Missouri DECA joined more than 1,650 high school marketing students at the annual state career development conference held March 17-19 at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark.
Students attending were: Megan Chism, Elizabeth Clark, Michaela Collins, Kristen Lackey, Mallory Lanser, Colton Sanderson, Morgan Sumner and Dylan Timmermann.
Mallory Lanser provided leadership as the Missouri DECA State Vice President of Communication. Mallory will have the opportunity to represent Missouri as a Voting Delegate and a scholarship recipient at the International DECA Career Development Conference that will be held April 23-28, 2013, in Anaheim, CA. She will also serve as a Social Media Correspondent for DECA throughout the duration of the conference.
DECA Advisor Kristal Swopes said, “I am very proud of all of our students who competed. They represented our school and community well. I am very sad that this was some of our seniors last conference and hope the underclassmen who attended will continue to compete next year.”
More than $10,000 of scholarships awarded by DECA and Missouri businesses were also announced during the conference. Over the past year, Missouri DECA has raised more than $10,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as part of DECA’s international community service outreach.
DECA internationally recognized program of competitive events uses interviews, tests, role-playing and written project reports to evaluate marketing, management and entrepreneurship skills identified by the nation’s marketing, management and entrepreneurship industry as essential for success in today’s global industry.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Missouri DECA serves more than 8,500 students throughout the state.
