Since March 24, 2013, the El Dorado Springs Police Department has received several reports of thefts of central air-conditioning units. At this time approximately eight units have been stolen.

The locations of these thefts have been private homes, Missionary Baptist Church, First Christian Church, ElDo Youth Center, Dash Floor Covering, and the former Schwalm Electric Building. These thefts are taking place at unknown times during the day and we believe that some of these thefts were done during the early morning hours.

These central air-conditioning units are valued in excess of $1,500 to $3,000 depending on age and replacement cost. I am aware that there have been additional thefts of these types of units from homes in the rural El Dorado Springs area.

The Crime Stoppers of El Dorado Springs have issued a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the parties involved. Anyone with information concerning these incidents are encouraged to call the El Dorado Springs Police Department at 417-876-TIPS or your local law enforcement agency.

I know that with the help of individuals in our community, we can bring these thieves to justice.
