The El Dorado Springs Scholar Bowl Team won the district championship on Saturday, April 13, and will advance to sectional play against Logan-Rogersville on April 24.

The team was seeded 1st after going 3-0 during preliminary play. They defeated Lamar 410-210 in Round 1, Bolivar 460-220 in Round 2 and Warsaw 450-50 in Round 3. In semi-finals, they faced off against the #4 seed Warsaw and won 470-130. In the championship, they faced their Cedar County rival Stockton and came out on top 500-150.

Senior Captain Nick Allison led the team in scoring with 78 toss-ups answered correctly. Juniors Kyle Robertson and Brandon Compton added 31 and 24 toss-ups, respectively. Sophomore Travis Cameron helped the team with 12 additional toss-ups, and Sophomore Ben Vickers also added one toss-up. Freshman John King rounded out the team and contributed on some of the bonus questions.

Jennifer Ray and her crew at Stockton High School did a wonderful job of hosting districts. Everything ran very smoothly. The students and staff were very hospitable, and the facilities at the new high school were outstanding. Thanks to all the families that showed up to support us as well. El Dorado Springs by far had the biggest number of fans attending which was a real boost to our players.
