Arrests made in air conditioner thefts

On Tuesday, May 7, the Cedar County Sheriff Office, in conjunction with the El Dorado Springs Police and Vernon County Sheriff Office, served two search warrants – one in Cedar County at 11515 E. Hwy. 32, Stockton, and one in Vernon County at 15036 Hwy AA, El Dorado Springs, according to a press release from Cedar County Sheriff Leon Dwerlkotte.

Search warrants were issued in regard to the recent thefts of outside air conditioners from both residential and businesses in the month of April 2013 from the Youth Center in El Dorado Springs, as well as both the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office and El Dorado Springs Police Department receiving information of air conditioner pieces being dumped on a subject’s property in Vernon County as well as at the Hackleman Bridge on Hwy. 39 south of Cedar Springs.

Property was recovered at both locations where the search warrants were served and seized for evidence and safekeeping.

While searching the property in Cedar County, a second search warrant was executed for possession of control substance methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Probable cause statements applied for with the Cedar County Prosecutor for Larry Dean Brown, DOB/10/28/1976 for stealing, property damage 2nd degree and trespass. Second suspect Dennis (Jake) Spiva, DOB: 03/03/1978 for felony stealing, property damage and trespass. Third suspect Julia N. Brown, DOB: 07/22/1978 for possession of controlled substance methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
