The St. Clair County Commission met Monday, Aug. 12, with Robert Salmon, presiding commissioner; Leroy Strope, north commissioner; Gerald Williams, south Commissioner; Debbie Peden, county clerk and Lori Rowe, administrative assistant present.

The commissioners and the road and bridge supervisor had a general discussion about road conditions and the locations of equipment.

A public hearing to set Tax Levies for 2019 was held at 10 a.m.

Commissioner Williams made a motion to set General Revenue Tax Levy at .3319 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation. Motion carried.

Commission Strope made a motion to set 2019 County Road and Bridge Tax Levy at .2824 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation. Motion carried.

Commissioner Strope made a motion to set 2019 Common Road District #1 Tax Levy at .3261 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation. Motion carried.

Commissioner Williams made a motion to approve the Land Commissioner Sale of lot #27 at Twin Oaks Harbor, to Alvin A. Klusman Jr. for $418.93. Motion carried.

Sam Bowden, jail administrator was in to present the Commissioner with bids for a moisture venting system for the showers at the jail. Bowden was instructed to proceed with the project. Also discussed was the need for an updated video surveillance system for the cell blocks.

Commission met Wednesday, Aug. 21, with all present.

The Commissioners met with the road and bridge supervisor to discuss current locations of equipment and road conditions.

The Commissioners conducted interviews for part-time employment for the Road and Bridge Department. No decision was made at this time.

The HMN Architect Company met with the Commission regarding the need for more space in the sheriff’s Office and Communication Center.

Teresa Heckenlively updated to Commissioners on the businesses starting up or expanding in the area.

Kara Colby, Golden Valley Clinic Manager, approached the Commission regarding the possibility of the county helping to pave the parking lot at the jail in conjunction with Golden Valley Medical for use by clinic patron and the jail employees. The parking lot is on Corps of Engineers property that is managed by the City of Osceola.
