On Saturday, May 11, the El Dorado Springs track team traveled to Fair Grove for the Class 2 Section 3 track meet. This meet was made up of the top four participants in our District 5 track meet and the top four from the District 6 track meet, resulting in eight for each event. The top four in each event at the sectional meet earn the chance to compete at the State meet, held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City this weekend.

Those competing in the sectional meet and their finishes are as follows: Rachel Bush, 8th in the 400 m. dash; Tanner Hixson, 5th in the pole vault; Colten Hedrick, 5th in the shot put (however with a personal best throw of 46’1”); Lance Molz, 6th in the 400 m. dash; and the girls’ 4 x 400 m. relay, consisting of Rachel Bush, Cameron McPeak, Kate Sibley and Elizabeth Clark, placing 8th.

Those placing in the top four and moving on to the State meet: Lance Molz, 4th in the 200 m. dash, with a personal best time of 22.96 sec; Heath Sutton, 4th in the 400 m. dash, with a personal best time of 52.26 sec; the boys’ 4 x 400, consisting of Lance Molz, Heath Sutton, Richard Lyness and Landen Smith, placing 3rd; Cameron McPeak, 4th in the 800 m. run, with a personal best time of 2:29.29; Hannah Bruggemann, 4th in the 3200 m. run, with a personal best, school record setting time of 12:34.10; and the girls’ 4 x 800 m. relay, consisting of Cameron McPeak, Rachel Bush, Elizabeth Clark and Tessa Durnell, finished 2nd with a time of 10:37.21.

Those who qualified will compete at the State Meet in Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday of this week. The girls’ 4 x 800 team as well as Hannah in the 3200 m. run, will both compete in finals on Friday. All other events will have to go through preliminary races on Friday to make it to the finals on Saturday.

We are excited about the possibilities of this weekend and are ready to get out there and show them what we are made of.
