Members of the El Dorado Springs Police Department and other law enforcement agencies attended a domestic violence workshop on Thursday, June 6, in the El Dorado Springs Community Building.

The two four hour sessions were taught by retired San Diego Police Department Detective Dan Dennis.

El Dorado Springs Police Chief Jarrod Schiereck said that the police department likes to have yearly training sessions. “In my opinion, when it comes to domestic violence, you can never have a refresher course. You learn something new every time,” he said.

Besides the El Dorado Springs Police Department, representatives from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department, Osceola PD, Humansville PD, Knob Noster, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, officers from Probation and Parole and Domestic Violence Director/Advocate Cheryl Duly from W.I.N.G.S. Refuge and Arc of Hope were in attendance.

A special thank you to Chief Jarrod Schiereck, Ida Lambrecht, the El Dorado Springs Police Department, the surrounding county agencies, Wings Refuge and to those that supplied food – Rusty Jug, Agape Boys Ranch, Rockville Methodist Church, Church of God (Holiness) and the W.I.N.G.S. Refuge Board.
