Ben LaVern Larsen, 87, El Dorado Springs, passed away on June 20, 2013, at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Hubbard, NE, and was raised in Osceola until he entered the Navy at age 17.
After the Navy, he moved to Kansas City where he met Gerry White. They were married on March 16, 1951. They moved to El Dorado Springs in 1963.
He retired from Auto Convoy in 1984. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing, his pond and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Larsen and Florence (Andress) Larsen, and one son, Dennis Larsen.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Norma Larsen; three children – Mike Larsen and wife – Linda, Debbie Bradford and husband – Bart and Kelly Larsen; a brother, Ralph Larsen; a sister, Doris Brooks; three grandchildren – Brad and Melinda, Ryan and wife – Amanda, Melissa Ruscha and husband – Duane; and five great grandchildren, Brooke, Abby, Case, Tate and Emilie.
The family suggest donations to be made to Hospice Compassus in care of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
Services were held Monday, June 24, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Songs were “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden.”
VFW Post #257 provided Navy military honors. Casketbearers were Gene Westhoven, Seth Williams, Ryan Larsen, Brad Larsen, Bart Bradford, Robert Spencer, Duane Ruscha and Ralph Larsen. Interment was in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under directon of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
