Marvin Dale Jones, 73, was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Osceola to Davey Jones and Hattie (Loomis) Jones. He passed away Jan. 2, 2020, in Springfield. 

He was born and raised in Osceola and lived the majority of his life near El Dorado Springs. 

Marvin was united in marriage to Veta (Breshears) Cline on July 31, 1976. He was saved in 1987 beside the wood splitter near the woodpile on their farm on Clear Creek River. He was baptized and joined the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in 1991. 

Marvin had never met a stranger. He had an outgoing friendly personality and was loved by most everyone that knew him. Marvin loved horses, coon hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, country and gospel music, family dinners and spending time with family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Loyd Jones; grandson, Alex M. Chamberlin; step-daughter, Anneta Cline, and a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Patroske. 

Marvin is survived by his wife, Veta Jones; children – Leisa Wolfe and husband, Paul, Denise Snider and husband, John; step-children, John Cline and wife, Sharon, Juanita Hochstedler and husband, Denver; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Jones and wife, Ruth, Roy Jones and Shirley West, Darel Jones and wife, Robin, Gary Jones and wife, Debbie and Larry Jones; sisters, Cheryl Jones, Margie Nibert and husband, August, and sister-in-law, Nancy Jones, other relatives and many friends. 

Services were held Monday, Jan. 6, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Brother Ralph Benham officiating. The Greathouse family sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” “My God Is Real,” “What A Friend” and “Amazing Grace.” 

Casketbearers were Gary Jones, Chase Jones, Larry Jones, Robbie Jones. John Cline and Andrew Chamberlin. Honorary casketbearers were Jerry Jones Jim Jones, Little Rob Jones and Lonnie Kiger. 

Burial was in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home. El Dorado Springs.
