, 87, Lee’s Summit, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was born Jan. 9, 1926, at Cedar Springs to James and Cornelia (Hackleman) Marquis, the seventh of eight children.
Genevieve lived in the Cedar Springs and El Dorado Springs areas until she was a young woman when she moved to Kansas City to live with her sister, Leila. While there, she met and married her husband of 49 years, Hubert LaFollette. To this union two daughters were born, Jennifer and Jeanette.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert; her daughter, Jennifer; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Green, and husband, Don – Sunrise Beach; five grandchildren – Brian, Kimberly, Christy, Michael and Allison; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Marquis, and wife, Imogene – El Dorado Springs; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Marquis.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Johnston officiating. Visitation preceded the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial in Hackleman Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Danny Ray Marquis, Adam Cox, Adam Dutton, Michael Skillman, Larry Mays, Dennis Mays and Bill Parsley.
