TOPS Chapter MO 0319 El Dorado Springs met in the Church Of Christ sanctuary on Thursday, July 18, for the weekly weigh-in and meeting.
Leader Dorothy called the meeting to order. Kay led us in singing “Go Go Go To TOPS.” We said our pledges and had roll call.
Dorothy shared with us that she is only five pounds from her goal.
Kay had the program today and she spoke on Eating Smart and Living Fully.
She asked, "Have you ever nibbled your way through a cold soggy pack of french fries just because they are there?"
Have you ever been stuffed after a meal but ate dessert anyway?
She said we are in control of every bite that goes in our mouth!
Some strategies are:
Keep ice cream in basement freezer so you have to go downstairs to get it.
Keep cleaned and cut veggies in plain site in ref.
Keep in mind most 100 calorie snacks are not that nutritious. Make up your own.
She then read from a book “Eat This Not That
Kay told us about various condiments we can use.
Salsa instead of ketchup. Some salsa has only 5 calories per tablespoon
Pesto has only 45 calories per tablespoon and is good for you.
Cranberry sauce has 26 calories per tablespoon and is good with a chicken or turkey sandwich.
Hummus is a good choice for a veggie dip. All of the above is a much better choice than high calorie dressing or mayo.
Kay’s presentation sparked a good discussion from members. Most said to read labels. Look for not only calorie content but sodium and sugar content.
