Herbert “Gene” Scholes, 69, Nevada, passed away on July 15, 2013. He was born Aug. 28, 1943, to John Melvin Scholes and Lola Fay Malcolm, the youngest of seven children. He was born and raised in Zodiac.
Gene retired from Ford Motor Company after serving 35 years there.
Gene lived in Kansas City for 25 years then he then moved back to Vernon County until his death.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Fay; his father, John Melvin; two brothers, John Jr. Scholes and Loren Scholes; two sisters, Almeda Eisenhower and Pearletta Larson; one step grandson, Shane Lambrecht, and one great- grandson, Jase Mikel Williams.
He is survived by one brother, Raymond Scholes, and wife, Janette; one sister, Helen Butt; the mother of his children, Thelma Shutters; five children – Ida Nilene Lambrecht and husband, Frank, and Janell Irene Hale and husband, Kenneth – both of El Dorado Springs, Herbert Gene Scholes II and wife, Pamla – Walker, Luessa Lee Sumner and husband, Charles – Schell City and Douglas Eugene Scholes – Nevada; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Services were held Friday, July 19, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Music was “The Box,” “Daddy’s Hand,” “Old Rugged Cross” and “Rhythm Of My Heart”
Cliff Sneed gave the eulogy.
Final dispostion was cremation.
