Charles “Leroy” Sousley, 77, Stockton, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Versailles Oct. 30, 1935, the son of Clyde and Winifred Sousley. A graduate of Higginsville High School Class of 1953, he was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War era. Leroy was a member of the Teamster’s Union and the Masonic Lodge.
He retired from Yellow Freight of Kansas City in 1995. Following retirement, he moved to Stockton to enjoy farming. He was baptized in and a member of the Stockton Christian Church. He proudly served two years on the Cedar County Ambulance Board.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Hazel; and a brother, Clyde Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Valentyna, and faithful dog, Charlie, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Sousley – Humansville, and Julie Stanton and husband, Kirk – Bolivar; grandsons – Jordan and Rick Stanton, Jeremy and wife – Misty Stanton, and Bobby and Ray Hoover; and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Brumback Funeral Home of Stockton at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Stockton Cemetery following the service. Online condolences at brumbackfuneralhome.com.
