Crowder College to host 1st Annual

Crowder College is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Crowder College Roughrider Scholarship Rodeo held at the newly acquired Roughrider Arena, (formerly the Ozark Saddle Club). This family friendly event is open to the public at 8 p.m. nightly Friday and Saturday, August 16-17,.

Crowder College is currently celebrating its 50th year of providing the students in the Four State Area excellent educational opportunities. The funds raised through this event will be used to provide scholarships for students.

Indigo Sky Casino is the Title Sponsor for the event along with numerous local businesses that have joined forces with Crowder to make this rodeo a success.

The event will attract the top performers of the American Cowboys Rodeo Association and the International Professional Rodeo Association with participants competing for prize money in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, cowgirls’ break-a-way roping, cowgirls’ barrel racing and bull riding. Depending on their placement in each event, their standing may help them qualify for each association’s year-end finals competition. Youth and local permits are welcomed to enter. Special events will include a youth mutton bustin’ and a youth calf scramble.

Entertainment for the rodeo will be provided by 2012 ACRA and CPRA Entertainer of the Year Michael “Goobie” Smith from Springdale, AR. Top quality rodeo stock will be provided by Steve Gussert with G Money Rodeo Co. from Haskell, OK. G Money Rodeo was awarded the 2012 Bareback Bucking Horse of the Year Award. “

Pre-event tickets pricing: Adults $8, Students $4 and children age 10 & under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Crowder College Bookstore, Eric Norris State Farm Insurance Agency and First Community Bank locations in Neosho and Goodman. Day of event tickets will be available for $10 for adults and $5 for students. Gates will open at 6 nightly. Spectators are encouraged to come early to browse the local venders’ booths and to take advantage of the full menu of concessions provided by the Crowder Agriculture Department.
