Alaskan cruise was wonderful

Recently Chloie, Jacob Zane and Isabella Borgaila spent a week with her parents, Diane and Allen Martin, and other relatives. They enjoyed swimming and going to the movies. They celebrated pre-birthdays for Bella, 4, and Jake, 6. The week before Diane Martin visited with Matt, Meghan, Isla and Samuel Martin in Omaha, NB.

Mike and Kathy Newman hosted a barbecue at their home Saturday evening for her dad, Ernest Nikodim’s birthday. Guests were Debbie Jensen, Susan and Phil Thompson, Kayla, Cody and Ethan Loyd and Jared Witter.

Jerry and Jenise Burch and their children-Jered and Crystal Burch, Kate and Cole and Laura and Josh Willson, Jackson and Reid have returned from a nine-day cruise to Alaska. The trip was a gift from their children in honor of Jerry and Jenise’s 50th wedding anniversary. They cruised to Skagway where they took a train ride to the Canadian border. The next stop was Juneau where they went rafting on the Mendenhall River. At Ketchikan, they took a boat ride on the Mendenhall Lake and got closer to view the glacier. They saw eagles and whales off the cruise ship. They were treated to a seafood feast at a fishing lodge. At Victoria, British Columbia, they took a double-deckered bus tour of the city and saw a lot of pretty gardens and a beautiful old hotel-The Empress. They flew from there back to Seattle where they took a tour of the city and saw the Space Needle. They toured Pike’s Market which is the biggest farmer’s market west of the Mississippi.

Last weekend, Alberta and Glen Hays went to Columbia for meetings on Saturday and Sunday. They went to Jefferson City this Friday and Saturday to Verona for receptions and then we went to Iberia for a birthday party for Meredith Wilson. Sunday, they went to Tom and Ginger Ketterman’s house in Nevada and visited with them and Chuck Ketterman who is here visiting from Idaho. They had not seen Chuck for several years and it was nice to visit with him.

Ron and Phyllis Reed and their granddaughter, Mazie Dunn, visited Charles and me on Thursday evening.

Dannielle McWilliams and Jessica Hardy took their great-grandmother, Elnora Mae Wallace, to see her new great-great-grandbaby and namesake, Baelynn Mae Prough, newborn daughter of Suzanne and Greg Prough.

Donna Davidson reported attending a wedding shower at the Walker Christian Church Sunday afternoon for Kristen Caldwell, bride-elect of Rogelio Cota. There was quite a crowd there and she received a lot of nice presents.

Tim Foreman, a student at MU in Columbia, spent the weekend with Charles and me. Tim and David Foreman went to Bolivar Saturday where they visited Bob, Tyler and Phyllis Garrison and played some golf.

Mike Newman reported the death of his uncle, Clarence Edwin Newman, in a private airplane crash in Louisiana. Sympathy is extended to the family. Ed, as he went by, was the brother of Jamesetta Newman who used to live in Walker and taught school here.

Debbie and Denny Wallace visited Bob and Jane Hutchison Sunday afternoon.

Kathryn Phillips took Harold Phillips out to eat at Buzz’s Restaurant for his birthday. They were joined by Laverne and Sonny Crooks.

Linda and Harry Hardy and Lana Popejoy of Kansas City spent the weekend with Elnora Wallace and went to see their new great-granddaughter, Baelynn Mae Prough

Sunday dinner guests of Charles and me were Bob and Phyllis Garrison, Tyler Garrison, Angelia Potter and Koltin – Bolivar, Chuck Foreman, Kearney, Tim Foreman – Columbia, Vonnie Main – Lamar, Christine Graham, Fred Haynes, Chet and Marla Foreman, Regan Kannady and friend, Scilar, Katie and Brice Budd and David Foreman, Brooklyn and Carter. Dannielle McWilliams and Suzanne Prough stopped by a few minutes to let us meet Baelynn Mae Prough, Suzanne and Greg Prough’s new daughter.

Renee Weisensee had the misfortune to fall and break her leg. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Elnora Wallace, Linda and Harry Hardy and Lana Popejoy visited Greg Hardy and Jessica Hardy at Jerico Springs.

Charles and I and Chet Foreman attended the Linn County, KS, Fair and watched Coltin Wilson show his pig Wednesday evening.
