Volunteers needed for Walker Fun Day

William Jeffry is coordinating the Walker Fun Day. A planning meeting is set for Thursday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Walker Community Building. All help will be appreciated in keeping this annual event going in our community.

Marty Patton has a cousin visiting from Worland, WY, (Ron Overcast). Saturday afternoon, they got their other two cousins together for a full generation picture of the grandchildren of Wilbern and Velma Stockstill. Then after a short visit the three of them went on down to their uncle’s place (Bryon Overcast) who lives near Waggoner and had a cookout. The weather was beautiful and the food was great.

Friday morning, Bob and Jane Hutchison and Bill and Sally Hawkins met two of their sisters, Mary Lombardi of 29 Palms, CA, and Madge Hunter of Prairie Village, KS. They met in Nevada for breakfast. The sisters were traveling to Mississippi to meet Mary’s daughter, Beth Hudson.

Bob and Linda Majors and Doug and Jody Majors spent the weekend on the lake in their houseboats.

Walker Senior Citizens met at the Walker Community Building for a carry-in lunch Tuesday at 11:30. There were about 15 present. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Monday evening, Bob and Linda Majors went with Chad and Jenny Majors and ate at Buzz’s in Nevada for Chad’s birthday. Friday, Bob and Linda Majors went to the home of Brad and LouAnn Majors, Madyson and Mason and helped Brad celebrate his birthday. Other guests were Chad and Jenny Majors, Alexia and Maleia.

Sunday, Bob and Jane Hutchison went to El Dorado Springs where they attended the Galvin/Vickers Family Reunion. Debbie and Denny Wallace visited them Sunday evening.

Christine Graham took her dad, Charles Foreman, to the Car Swap Meet in Springfield Saturday.

Visiting Elnora Wallace this week were Greg and Sue Prough and Baelynn Mae, Dannielle McWilliams and Darla Arlint.

Alberta and Glen Hays went to Andy and Tammy Hays’s Sunday evening for supper as Payton was home from college.

Glen Hay’s brother’s wife, Claudean, passed away and Alberta and Glen have been visiting with Gene and Danny at El Dorado Springs on Friday and Saturday.

Jerry and Jenise Burch spent a few days at the Missouri State Fair. They parked their camper near Gary and Shirley Charles and Mary and Gary Kitsmiller. Cole Burch spent Monday and Tuesday with them. On Tuesday, Jered and Crystal Burch and Kate joined them. They celebrated Kate’s 12th birthday and Kate stayed and spent Friday and Saturday with them. They went to two concerts-The Oak Ridge Boys who are celebrating their 40th Anniversary Tour and Toby Keith. They watched Delbert Johnston of Nevada who showed his light draft horses.

Christine and I went to St. Louis Thursday evening and spent the night. We went on to Vandalia, IL, Saturday morning and met Corey Graham who had spent the last five weeks with relatives in Ohio. We attended the Missouri State Fair in the afternoon.

Arlene and Rilie Good and Bobby and Karen Hutchison visited Bob and Jane Hutchison Saturday afternoon.

News has been received of the death of Rex Overton who was raised in the Schell City area. Rex was 95 and passed away at Hamilton, MT, Aug. 15, 2013. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Alta (Medearis) Overton, two brothers, Wayne and Dale Overton, and one half-brother, Robert Dunn. He is survived by his half-brother, John Dunn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and other relatives.
