CEDAR COUNTY COMMISSION

The Cedar County Commission met Aug. 5, 2013. Present were – Jesse Watts, presiding commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, northern commissioner; John A. Fox, southern commissioner; Peggy Kenney, county clerk.

Minutes from July 29, 2013, were approved.

Met with Road and Bridge department.

Jim Rueskin, superintendent for Zahner Hansen, gave a progress report on the law enforcement facility.

Jason Sivils, Great River Engineers, presented contracts for BRO (14), BRO (15), BRO (16)

Motion by Fox to approve contracts; second by Boultinghouse.

Gabe Cordova, Howard Donzig, Employers Committed to Controlling Health Insurance Costs, discussed health insurance.

Cindy Walentiny requested to have penalties and interest waived for BMW car that was titled in daughter’s name. Tabled until more information can be obtained.

Nicki Antonini reported 2074 Rd. by Hawker Point needed report.

Reviewed monthly reports submitted by the following office holders: Melinda Gum, circuit clerk; Chelsea Abercrombie, public administrator; Carole Wilkerson, recorder of deeds.

Met with Leon Dwerlkotte, sheriff; discussed staffing needed for new facility.

Don Mills reported the county left a windrow along his road that caused the rain water to wash all the gravel he personally purchased to fix the road.

After contacting Department of Revenue and verifying the vehicle has been titled and licensed in Walentiny’s name for 2011 and 2012 it was determined they would be responsible for the taxes due including penalties and interest.

Bills and payroll were approved to be paid.

Wayne Pyle discussed issues Schmock’s development was causing on road.

Reviewed budget.

Signed invoice for Lake Patrol; Corp of Engineers $9,166.66.

Patrick Davis, University Extension, discussed Beef Forage Tour Aug. 24; 2:30pm Mt Vernon.

Opened Work Comp Bids: Connell Insurance $55,87; MAC S55,707

Motion by Boultinghouse to award bid to Connell Insurance; Second by Fox.

Arlo Rupke, Emergency Management director, discussed the need of conference room in new law enforcement facility; Sheriff wants to use room for offices.

Bills were approved to be paid.
