The Friends of the Library, Inc., hosted a successful summer reading program at the El Dorado Springs Branch of the Cedar County Library. The program was a weekly occurrence for a six week period and included informative speakers and hands on activities for children ages 2-12.

The program, “Dig into Reading,” included a couple of visits from Barkley the Dog to discuss responsibility, Dean Ratliff from Cedar Creek Wildlife Arts to show some burrowing animals and Lana Wilson from the Conservation Department telling the children about voles. The children had the opportunity to participate in some hands on activities such as making and maintaining a worm farm and a celebration for America’s birthday with outdoor games and treats.
