Softball Bulldogs lose big, win big twice

SPEED DEMON – Cameron McPeak, maybe the fastest player from home to first base in the state, laid down a perfect bunt Thursday against Hermitage, then left a dust trail all the way to first.

During the past week, the El Dorado Springs Lady Bulldogs lost once and won twice, all by the game ending 10 run rule.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Lady Buldog Tailor Hutsell’s big day at the plate not enough, as the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs lost 12-2 at Stockton.

Tailor Hutsell was solid at the plate for the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs. She went 1-2 and drove in two runs with a triple in the fifth inning for the Bulldogs only 2 runs.

Stockton got 4 runs on 2 Bulldog fielding errors in the first inning and never looked back. Six Bulldog errors led to 10 unearned runs for the Stockton Tigers, and left too big of a hole for the Bulldogs to climb out of. Taylor Witt was the losing pitcher for the Bulldogs, her second loss of the season.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, at home, the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Softball team jumped on Adrian early and coasted to a 17-2 win. El Dorado grabbed a 6-0 lead in the first inning and refused to relinquish the lead against Adrian, recording a 17-2 victory on Wednesday at El Dorado Springs.

The game was decided quickly as the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity exerted their will early with 13 runs in the first three innings. An RBI single by Madison Mays, an RBI single by Anyssa Salazar, an RBI single by Melissa Gooden, an RBI single by Haley Boultinghouse, and a two-run single by Cameron McPeak in the first inning and a two-run double by Melissa, an RBI single by Haley, an RBI double by Cameron, an RBI single by Madison Mays, a passed ball, and a passed ball during the second inning supplied the early offense for the El Dorado Springs. Cameron racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Bulldogs.

Taylor Witt got the win for the El Dorado. She allowed two runs over four innings. Taylor struck out two, walked two and gave up four hits for her second win of the season improving to 2-1. El Dorado Springs pounded Adrian pitching, as eight hitters combined for 22 hits, 14 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

On Thursday against Hermitage at home, an early lead gave the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Softball team an easy victory over Hermitage, 12-2. The Bulldogs refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Hermitage, recording a 12-2 victory on Thursday at El Dorado Springs.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Bulldogs left no doubt about the eventual outcome. An RBI single by Madison Mays, a sacrifice fly by Taylor Witt, a two-run triple by Shelby Barger and an RBI single by Kaitlin Robison during the first inning and a walk by Taylor and a groundout by Melissa Gooden in the second inning fueled the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity’s offense early.

Cameron McPeak went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the El Dorado Springs. She singled in the third and fifth innings.

Tailor Hutsell got the win for the Bulldogs thanks to seven strikeouts. Tailor allowed no earned runs on three hits and one walk over four innings to pick up her second win of the season and help the Bulldogs improve their record to 4-3 on the season.
