The El Dorado Springs varsity VolleyDogs added two wins to their record the past week. ElDo hosted Pleasant Hope on Sept. 17 and won in two quick sets 25-14, 25-9.

“Wins are always good,” said Coach Tonya Hooper. “We need to decrease our number of unforced errors. We’re giving our opponents too many free points lately.”

Alexa Schaaf led the team in kills with nine. Megan Chism added four. Chism also led the team in aces with two and had two solo blocks. Kinli Simmons and Kameron Schaaf led the team in digs with five each. Simmons also led her team in assists with 14.

The VolleyDogs then hosted district opponent Lamar on Sept. 19. Lamar took the lead with scrappy defense before ElDo settled down and found some momentum. Eventually ElDo would win the match 25-19, 25-15.

Alexa Schaaf once again led the team in kills with six followed by Megan Chism with four. Kinli Simmons led the team with three aces and 14 assists. Fallyn Ozbun added six digs.

“We were glad to see Kameron Schaaf return to the court against Lamar,” said Coach Hooper. “Lamar played some tenacious defense and kept picking up anything we hit at them. We finally found some holes in their defense and used that to get the win. We’re still trying to find that right combination to make our team the most effective and will continue to look at the options.”

The JV VolleyDogs played one set against Pleasant Hope on Sept. 17 due to Pleasant Hope’s small roster and won 25-20.

“The girls played with determination,” said Coach Hooper. “They had to pull themselves out of a hole to win the set.”

Caeleigh Gardner led the team in kills with two. Becky Jennings and Kinlee Ihde had two service aces each. Ihde also had four assists on the night.

The JV squad hosted Lamar on Sept. 19 and lost a heartbreaker match 25-20, 23-25, 20-25.

“The girls played their hearts out,” said Coach Hooper, “but in the end, experience was the deciding factor in the match. Lamar kept swinging at us and we made too many unforced errors.”

Jamie Johnson led the team with five kills. Becky Jennings had 10 aces and four digs. Kinlee Ihde had five assists. Madison Posey added four assists. Felecia Ozbun had four digs.
