The varsity VolleyDogs continue to place tally marks in the win column with victories over Bolivar and Warsaw.

ElDo travelled to Bolivar on Sept. 24 and won 25-18, 25-22.

“We had every intention of proving that we were the better team,” said Coach Tonya Hooper. “The loss Bolivar handed us in the opening round of the Buffalo Tournament should not have happened. The girls stepped up and played well.”

Alexa Schaaf led her team in kills with 10 while Megan Chism added nine. Kinli Simmons had 21 assists and 10 digs. Fallyn Ozbun led the team in service aces with two and also had 11 digs. Chism had two solo blocks while Taylor North and Simmons had three block assists.

El Dorado then travelled to Warsaw on Sept. 26. The VolleyDogs came out slow but won the first set 25-15. In the second set, El Do’s offense failed with numerous hitting and serving errors, placing the team in unfamiliar territory. Kinli Simmons rattled off four straight points to give ElDo the victory 26-24 in a too close for comfort match.

“I can’t explain what happened nor describe it,” said Coach Hooper. “We just weren’t playing to our ability.”

Alexa Schaaf led the team in kills with seven followed by Kameron Schaaf with six. Kinli Simmons had 15 assists. Simmons and Kameron Schaaf had three aces each. Megan Chism had two solo blocks and Taylor North had one. Simmons led the team in digs with five.

The JV VolleyDogs lost a close match to Bolivar on Sept. 24 with scores of 20-25, 18-25.

Kinlee Ihde, Felecia Ozbun and Caeleigh Gardner each had two kills. Kristen Lackey led the team in aces with three. Ihde led the team in assists with four. Becky Jennings and Felecia Ozbun had four digs.

The JV team improved their record as they defeated Warsaw on Sept. 26. In a crazy three set match, ElDo came away victories 25-14, 8-25, 25-18.

“Once again, there is no way to describe how we played at Warsaw,” said Coach Hooper. “The JV experienced the same kind of trouble as the varsity in the second set. Our team must learn to stay focused.”

Kinlee Ihde and Becky Jennings each had three kills. Felecia Ozbun and Jennings each had six aces. Ihde had four assists and Madison Posey added two.

The Volleydogs hosted Liberal at home on Sept. 30, travelled to Clever on Oct. 1, then travel to Osceola on Oct. 3. Game time for the Osceola match has been moved to 5:30.
