Jerry Richard Nelson

Jerry Richard Nelson, 74, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Oct. 22, 2020, in Springfield. He will be missed by all.

Jerry was born Sept. 19. 1946 to Edward M. Nelson and Pearl (Hanley) Louis.

He was married to Connie Cooper and a son was born.

From 1965-1971 Jerry served in the Vietnam War and became a war hero earning several medals

Always living life to the fullest, Jerry had several hobbies. One of his favorites was collecting his many baseball cards. He also was a dedicated Chiefs fan through and through.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ed and Pearl; a newborn son, Richard Michael L. Keith; one sister, Betty Ann Haste; Nephews, Andy and Todd Stoops; along with grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Jerry is survived by his son, Rob and wife, Erica; granddaughter, Lindsey; brother, Ed Nelson; (Ed’s daughters) four nieces, Stacey, Tanna, Shelley and Amanda; nephews, Joe Stoops, Brad (and Cindy) Stoops and family; and another niece, Dana Stoops and family.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Sheldon Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
