The El Dorado Springs Bulldogs gave maximum effort against the Adrian Blackhawks last Friday night, but left a victory on their stomping grounds.

Head Coach Harv Welch reported on the game:

The Adrian Blackhawks kicked off to the Bulldogs to start the game. EHS made two 1st downs before punting. Adrian went three and out.

EHS made another 1st down and was gaining field position which a Blackhawk interception negated. They returned it 30 yards to mid-field. Two plays later Blackhawk No. 22 skated around end for a 50-yard TD run. AHS led 7-0.

Early in the 2nd quarter, EHS scored on an 11-yard run by James Dubois. Drew Carpenter’s PAT kick tied the score at 7-7.

AHS responded with a nine-play drive and scored to lead 14-7. AHS scored again before half to make it 20-7 at half-time.

EHS took control in the 3rd quarter limiting the Blackhawks to a total of seven plays. The Bulldogs put together an eight play drive and Brant Jones completed a pass to Cody Clark from 25 yards out to make it 20-13 as the 3rd period ended.

In the 4th quarter, Adrian wore out the depleted Bulldog team and dominated with two TD drives while controlling the clock. With six minutes left in the 4th quarter, Brant Jones again hit Cody Clark on a 10-yard TD pass.

Final score: Bulldogs – 20, Blackhawks – 35.

The Bulldogs continue to play hard and with much effort. James Dubois blocked two points and one field goal attempt. He gave a courageous effort the whole game.

The Bulldogs will travel to Lamar on Thursday, Oct. 31, to play Lamar. ElDo will limp into town with six players on academic suspension, five starters injured and several more on an FFA trip. The game will start at 7 p.m.
