Louisa Permelia “Moody” Graves, 93, El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020. She was born June 3, 1927, to Ellis and Rosie (Hardy) Moffett in Osceola, Missouri. She lived most of her life west of Osceola in what was known as Chalk Level.

She graduated from Osceola High School in 1945, and married Harold W. Graves in 1947. Moody worked several jobs; a file clerk for a catalog company in Kansas City, and the International Shoe Factory and Dunbrooke Shirt Factory in El Dorado Springs. For several years she worked at the school cafeteria during school term and Camp Galilee during the summer. Her last job was with the Sun Newspaper, part time for eight years. She enjoyed her work and all the people she worked with.

She is survived by a son, Michael Lynn Graves, and Lorena; a daughter, Cheryl Kaye Carpenter, and Jerry; a sister, Juanita Tindell; and grandchildren: Tamra Kay Graves, Andy Graves and Jodi, Brennan Graves and Nicole, Jami Carpenter and Jeremy, Kali Collins and Chandler; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Chambers, Wyatt, Trey and Olivia Graves, Cash Collins, Porter Collins, and Hayden Graves; and great-great-grandson, Isaiah Carter.

Moody was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Graves; a son, H. Wilson Graves, brother, Bobby Gene Moffett; and sister, Betty D. James.

A visitation in memory of Moody Graves was held from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs.
