Guests at Cedar County Memorial Hospital’s Fifth Annual Endowment Fundraiser and Dessert Auction were greeted with the down home sounds of the Circle S Opry as they arrived at the El Dorado Springs First Baptist Church Family Life Center on Nov. 2. The theme of “You Might Be A Redneck” opened up an array of casual attire that included jeans and Duck Dynasty T-shirts.
The evening’s events kicked off with a best beard contest. There weren’t any beards like Phil’s or Si’s, but Seth Crawford’s facial fuzz won out of a field of 10 contestants. His prize included a gift basket of spam, Vienna sausage, hot wheels car, NASCAR hat, Duck Dynasty peanut butter cups, Moon Pies and beef jerky.
After a welcome by hospital CEO Jana Witt and invocation by CCMH Board Vice President Jan Neale, guests enjoyed a meal of redneck caviar with chips, BBQ brisket, baked beans, hash brown potato casserole, coleslaw, biscuits with butter and hone and warm peach cobbler with ice cream. Throughout the evening, guests had an opportunity to get their photos taken with members of the Duck Dynasty cast thanks to the photo stand-in board provided by John and Jeanne Hoagland and the photography of Robin Miller, CCMH Pharmacist.
The main event, a desert auction, featured cookies, cakes, pies and other goodies and unique items donated by CCMH personnel and their family members. Nance Auction Service provided the auctioneers along with their own brand of redneck humor.
