El Dorado Springs basketball fever is back

The student section this year lead by Debra Marsh, is simply outstanding. The cheerleaders, led by Katie Barger, have the student section rocking and rolling, and talk about a “show within the show”. The student section is promoting and cheering for bulldog basketball better and louder than home crowds. Even though the varsity basketball teams have combined for 1 home game so far, (the girls played Bolivar here last week), if you didn’t know better you would think almost every game we’ve played was a home game with our students. If you haven’t watched a basketball game this year, you are missing out.

In the infamous words of Dick Vital “It’s awesome baby.” The El Dorado Springs Varsity girls and boys basketball teams went 5-0 this week against some quality opponents. The girls and boys both had wins over Adrian and Stockton, and the boys traveled to Buffalo Friday night to take care of business in Bison country. With a three-win week for the varsity boys they have improved their record to 5-3 on the season, and are seeded second in the Skyline tournament. “This was the first true sign of respect our boys have been shown since I’ve been here”. It’s hard to imagine that just a year ago, these same boys only had four wins on the entire season. The Junior Varsity boys also came away with two wins this week over Adrian and Buffalo, improving their record to 4-0 on the season. We still have a long ways to go and have a lot of areas to improve in, but a little success sometimes goes a long way.
