HISTORIC HOUSE DESTROYED – The El Dorado Springs Fire Department responded to a 2:14 a.m. fire on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 300 S. Jackson. When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed. The fire department left about 5:45 a.m. continuing to monitor the rubble, returning about 6:30. It smoked for a good part of Sunday and well into Monday.
According to Owen Elliot the cause of the fire is unknown. The house, owned by Carolyn Rash, was unoccupied.
Records in the Cedar County Assessors office indicate the house was built in 1880.
